An area of natural and unspoiled beauty. If you want to see marine species not found anywhere else on the earth, and one of the last uninhabited archipelagos in the world, Mergui Archipelago is the place to go.
Myanmar’s marine ‘Lost World’, the 800 islands of Myanmar’s Mergui archipelago, is a largely desolate area, tucked away from the rest of the world. Its isolation is such that much of it has not even yet been thoroughly explored.
Not only is the archipelago home to 800 islands with outstanding marine and terrestrial life, it is also the home to the Moken. The “sea gypsies” are one of the most enigmatic and appealing peoples of Southeast Asia. They live almost exclusively on the water and their spiritual approach to living is endlessly endearing.
